Rolfing, or Structural Integration is a holistic body therapy. It helps to re-establish elasticity and lubrication to sticky and viscous fascia tissue and to develop an upright posture.
In a series of ten sessions, Rolfers support their clients in improving their posture and movement patterns.
The holistic and supportive view of Rolfing, together with its holistic human-centered approach enables a wide range of Rolfing applications.
This ranges from prevention, better performance and pain therapy to a greater general well being and better perception of one's environment.
Are you already familiar with Rolfing?
The holistic and supportive view of Rolfing, and the the fact that the person is put a the center, enables a wide range of applications.
Since the 1950s, the method has spread and developed worldwide. Dr. Rolf started her research with an emphasis on structure. Over the years, she realized that the same attention has to be paid to the understanding of function, of exercise patterns, of the different energy systems of the body and of the effects of physical and emotional trauma on the body.

Usually scars are ignored and stored in the subconscious or in the unconscious.
The scar treatment itself does not hurt, to the contrary, it creates often a pleasant experience.
With time, the tension will decrease and people will experience more sensitivity. As a result, the scar will be belonging more to the body.
Rolfing sessions take the whole body into account.

Yes, I treat after the fifth month of pregnancy. Sessions are also good after pregnancy to get back in shape.
If you feel ill, of course you should consult your general practitioner. Rolfing is not suitable for certain conditions, such as inflammations and tumors.
Depending on the insurance company and the type of package you have. Around 50-75% are covered, and therefore reimbursed. If you call your insurance, they mostly don’t know Rolfing. They have to know that I work with VBAG (as beroepsorganisatie) and that I do have an agb-code.
Rolfing can also help young people with a variety of problems. Sessions for children are usually shorter and time in-between sessions are longer.
This depends on your personal goals. To release specific tensions at least temporarily, 1 to 3 sessions can suffice. However, if you want a lasting change in your overall wellbeing, the European Rolfing Association e.V. (ERA) recommends the classic 10-session series that Dr. Ida Rolf developed, in which each session builds upon the progress achieved in the previous one.
If you ask individual clients about Rolfing, it depends, among other aspects, on how well they can engage with their own body and the changes. Apart from the manual work with the fascia, Rolfing is also about refining the client’s body awareness and replacing unhealthy movement patterns through healthier ones. The newly refined body awareness allows clients to quickly identify and correct returning old patterns, even after the series have been completed.
Rolfing is holistic, process oriented body work. Dr. Ida Rolf called her work “Structural Integration” and developed a series of ten sessions that build upon one another systematically. The Rolfer always takes the entire body, as well as structural and functional relationships into account. During 10 sessions (10-session series) the entire fascia network of the body is addressed – with the goal of aligning it ideally in relation to gravity.Rolfing differs from other methods because it takes gravity and its importance for our wellbeing into account.Ida Rolf recognized early on that gravity plays an essential role as an organizing element for body structure, movement coordination, special perception, and even human expression. Every session begins with a short observation phase. The Rolfer asks the client to stand, to breathe deeply, to walk a few steps, or to sit down, for example. Then the client lies on a padded table, similar to a massage table. The Rolfer delicately works on the fascia in a specific body area while applying precise pressure. The client supports the effect through active movements and thereby also learns new movement patterns. Old habits that have a lasting effect on wellbeing are thus slowly eliminated.
Yesterday's session was amazing! My body feel so soft! Been sleeping like a princess and walking is a whole new experience ;)! I sense my legs and they feel fantastic! Keeping all your little tips in mind.
Nogmaals bedankt voor alles, je hebt echt de kwaliteit van mijn leven verbetert. Ben heel blij met je.
I am still very aware of my movements and posture, like a new sense of presence is awaking in me, such a precious journey.
Ik vond de sessie gisteren verrassend aangenaam. Na de sessie en ook vanmorgen was de pijn in mijn knie beduidend minder scherp.
It feels great! I feel really good. I will contact you again for the next appointment.
Heel erg bedankt voor de sessie. Dit was de eerste keer in tijden dat ik op mijn linker schouder kon slapen en dat het geen verschrikkelijke pijn deed. Je bent een held! Tot maandag!
Thank you very much for your help! You made me discover some very useful exercises that help me now in my everyday life.I do turn the leg a little bit inside while walking and feel better. Your hands are taking care and are warm.
Thank you and bless you!
Yes, my scars are still looking pretty good!
Echt wat heerlijk om rechtop te kunnen lopen! En ik voel zoveel meer, en intuïtiever. Ik was net piano aan het spelen, en ik hoorde gewoon welke noten ik moest spelen. Normaal gaat dat niet zo snel.
"I think there are many lenses through which you can look at a person, or at a body; for example holistic, integrative, structural and functional; or the liquid body and the biomechanical body. This complexity makes it a bit more difficult to understand things, but also more interesting, and to me it is actually the only way that makes sense.
Structural Integration work is physical, but can also be psychological (history in the tissue, feeling in the past, becoming aware of emotional tension, stiffness and stress, and holding of breath).
Rolfing should feel good, relaxing, and releasing, and also have a wellness effect, next to reducing pain, creating efficiency in a more integrated body.
The work should never feel painful, but sometimes can be on an edge."
